Oh my goodness Carmelina has just worked her magic on my beloved but well worn designer fur coat.Two weeks ago I left Carmelina this old, rather tatty MaxMara alpaca coat, its plain blue lining torn to shreds. Yesterday I found myself trying on the same coat looking every bit as good as it did when I bought it 20 years ago, in fact even better, because Carmelina had taken it upon herself to line it in the most gorgeous paisley silk fabric in a blue that matched the colour of the fur perfectly. She had also spruced up the MaxMara label inside and carefully re-positioned and tightened up all the buttons. Thank you so much Carmelina, you have ensured that this will continue to be my forever coat. You are an absolute genius when it comes to doing anything with a needle and thread! Carmelina has been altering clothes for me for over 25 years, I couldn't recommend her more highly, she has an awesome talent and a great eye, no challenge is too big for her!

Carmelina has done a fabulous job shortening the length of my bridesmaid dress and altering the neck-line to accommodate my post-partum body! I have known Carmelina for over twenty years. She has made me special dresses and modified clothing in my wardrobe during that time. As someone who used to make clothes I really appreciate that she knows exactly where to pin to create a more flattering and stylish silhouette. She has a great eye and creates a meticulous finish to garments. One feels confidently well-dressed after these alterations. It's money very well spent in my opinion and allows one to keep wearing favourite clothing in a newly updated form. From shortening of sleeves, modifying pockets on trousers, changing necklines in addition to basics she can do it all. I highly recommend her expertise and skills as a high level dressmaker. The calm pleasant personality and reliability are bonuses.

Carmelina has been altering clothes for me for about 25 years. She is highly efficient, professional and she has always produced an excellent result. One example of her workmanship was when I bought a dress from a world famous department store in London. It needed altering and after 3 separate visits to the store, their alterations department still hadn't been able to successfully alter it. In desperation I took it to Carme lina and she immediately solved the problem. It's no coincidence that my daughter went immediately to Carmelina to ask her to make her wedding dress in 2014. I discovered the prowess of Carmelina earlier this summer as a recommendation from a local high fashion shop in Oxford. My wedding dress was shipped to me from Los Angeles, and although the inseam was correct, I was in desperate need of adjusting the length of the gown and the straps. On a bit of a time crunch, I contacted Carmelina and went to her home studio where she worked wonders. Not only was her skill level superior to any tailor I have ever been too, but her personality and demeanour were impeccable. I would recommend Carmelina to anyone looking for exemplary professionalism when it comes to delicate formalwear.

Carmelina, at very short notice, managed to let out the dress I had bought for my sons wedding. She did an excellent job and I felt a million dollars on the day! Carmelina didn't make me feel rushed, although she had to do a lot of very intricate work and all just prior to going on her own holiday.

Carmelina is a close guarded secret amongst her loyal Oxford fans! She has transformed many garments in my wardrobe, from a simple hem alteration to transforming dated couture pieces into a current seasons look and every single time without fail, I have always ended up with a perfect fit! In fact, I no longer worry about the fit of a garment when I am shopping but focus on the fabric & design because I know that Carmelina will work her magic on any piece I turn up with. Carmelina is a wonderful dressmaker. I had to make substantial adjustments to a lovely wedding dress due to my size (!) and after a failed attempt at another dressmaker, Carmelina went to work with confidence and ease. She was very professional, had me in with plenty of time to look through how the dress looks on me before adjustment, made suggestions, and we had a few fittings before the final alterations were put in place. The whole of the back of the dress had to be adjusted but nobody knew that it wasn't part of the original design, thanks to Carmelina's good work. To top it all, she did this in a timely fashion and was very easy and lovely person to work with. I would recommend her to any busy, fussy bride!

Over the past 15 years or so I've gained and lost weight as most of us do. No matter what size I was Carmelina has managed to make all my clothes fit perfectly and so they make me look good. Nothing has fazed her- fabric or style, she has always had the solution. The quality of her work is first class. I buy new suits from Hobbs or LK Bennett and the skirts always need shortening as do the sleeves. No matter how many buttons on the sleeves there's no way anyone would know they've been altered by the time Carmelina has finished with them. Many of my clothes are 5+ years old and I've had skirts and jackets re-lined, all perfect. She is a star and a really lovely person.

I'm a dancer, and often need to make repairs and adjustments to my costumes, which are fragile and heavily beaded. I have just got back two costumes after taking them to Carmelina for repairs & alterations which were too delicate to do myself, and I am very pleased with the results. Carmelina has done a really good job, fixing lots of delicate satin ruching which was coming unstitched on one costume, and adding extra chiffon panels to the skirt of another.I also thought that her price was very reasonable. I will be bringing all of my costumes to her when they need work doing on them in future!
